Quebec, the cold city

Quebec gives the illusion of infinity and it is not wrong. We love to discover the vastness of the landscape but do not forget that Quebec also offers many cultural attractions to explore!

Quebec is home to many very interesting to discover which are the most famous sights:

- The Ice Hotel Quebec every winter, you can see the unusual in Quebec! This is the case of this hotel built of ice where you can stay and vacation. Every year the ice hotel opens its doors until late March. As well as being built of snow, it is home to beautiful ornaments made of ice. What is amazing with this place is that every year it is getting a facelift. In real museum, it is not necessary to live there for a visit, but the visit is not free. Address: 9530, rue de la Faune, Charlesbourg - Tel: 1-418-627-8008.

- Fortifications of Québec: these massive fortifications surrounding the old city. They are classified as World Heritage is to tell you the beauty of the place. One tip, ask the services of a guide who will show you the wealth of the old town as well, the view that will offer you on the St. Lawrence River.

Main events:

Quebec is known for its traditional arts and this awareness remain steeped in tradition and authenticity. Among them, the circus arts and street have a very big place. It often seems that the biggest circus schools come to us from Europe or Asia. Yet Cirque du Soleil if known comes from Quebec. Several troops were created especially for new generations of circus, called "traveling circus". If you are passing in Quebec, go to Tohu, the City of Circus Arts to visit this institution.

The corners where to sleep:

Quebec offers a network of housing quite interesting where the tourist will have the choice in terms of price, comfort or even atmosphere. What distinguishes housing in Québec, it is this that gives hospitality and welcome the sun at heart! Quebec is also set to green and you can find hotels that like the eco-housing, care for the environment and the human-being. If you have a small budget, discover the host villages. It's not what you might think, a village home looks like a hostel with comfort. We recommend testing the host village of St. Gregory (4000, Boulevard de Port-Royal, Bécancour - Rel: 819 222-8808).

Kitchen and culinary specialties:

Quebecers have this tendency to preserve their land while there combining cuisines. This gives a very interesting opening and large Quebec leaders did not hesitate to "customize" old traditional recipes of Quebec. In local cuisine can be tasted smoked fish, duck ... all drizzled with maple syrup!

Among the restaurants to be discovered (although a bit pricey, expect 50 euros per person without drinks around), the restaurant "Le Grand Bleu" in Matane.

Vacation in Quebec

Quebec, one of the largest French-speaking enclaves outside the hexagon (and its characteristic accent), has a vast territory relatively independent from the states that make up Canada. A stay in Quebec can take different forms depending on when we went there: the summer is warm but wet enough, spring and autumn are short and winter rather rough, but what a pleasure to discover this completely snow covered country ... and in Quebec, the capital, where the waters of the St. Lawrence freezes with the intense cold: at other times, you can see whales up stream! The other big city, Montreal, is downright a metropolis, with, in addition to its old quarters, a large complex underground to escape the frigid temperatures. But Quebec is also a great destination in nature, with large areas covered with forests: snowshoeing, snowmobiles, observation of wildlife: the backcountry is not to abandon.

Quebec: Crossroads of Culture

In Canada, Quebec federated form in itself a nation with its own culture and its institutions state. Its population uses French as its official language. With a favorable geographical environment, Quebec, the capital, and Montreal, the metropolis, are very easy to access through their extensive network of roads, air and rail. Economic capital, Quebec City is also of good food, outdoor cafes, bistros, wine and cheese. Famous for its long winter seasons, Quebec took advantage of the great beauty of its landscapes. Tourists can offer a unique opportunity to make a winter trip to the heart of a city offering a wealth of natural, cultural and historical. With "the largest winter carnival in the world," many festivities as user-friendly as each other are waiting right inside the city. Ice palace, snow sculptures, canoe racing and dog sledding, night parades, disco moonlight and snow baths, everything is available for the enjoyment of visitors. Other outdoor activities are also schedulable outside the city. This is multiple variations of snow sports (alpine skiing, windsurfing slides, dog sled, snowmobile, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, etc.) at Mont Sainte-Anne. A wide range of accommodation is available like Stoneham, Centre Ski Le Relais, for a family plan, or the eccentric Ice Hotel Quebec if you want a unique experience. For a more playful circuit history of the city told through the walls that surround the Old Quebec, Parliament Hill, large estates and the first inhabitants. Pellets on the ground or guided tours in "podcasting" are pretty cool ways to explore the city at their own pace.

Planning a trip to Quebec

Connections by air between France and Quebec are becoming more accessible in terms of price: several major French cities are regularly connected to Montreal or even Quebec, with direct flights. All that remains is to choose its season: Quebec has a different face other between summer and winter sometimes scorching invariably cold seasons ... both have their advantages and disadvantages, but none worth less worth than the other!

One week trip to Quebec seems a bit short: it gives time to see Montreal and Quebec City, but not so much to enjoy national parks and natural spaces, or to delve deep into the Quebec environment ... two weeks or more, that's better.

For housing, the standard hotel range is available in cities: great modern and expensive international schools, smaller hotels, guest houses and lodges, rental apartments, hostels for the budget ... overall the accommodation is quite expensive in town effect. Book in advance is preferable.

Outside the cities and in the countryside, we turn to the roadside motels, lodges and accommodations dwellers, many campsites (mainly a seasonal solution), although to enjoy nature in the national parks, for example.

The cost of living in Quebec is roughly equivalent to what is done in France, but with a strong euro against the Canadian dollar, we gain a lot by purchasing power!
