The Eternal City attracts widespread attention already more than 2000 years and it is still one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in the world. Rome is "dolce vita" concentrate: clothing stores of Italian designers, ice cream, cappuccino foaming and wine - the choice is always for you.
By what we have to start? If can you tell shortly the history of the Eternal City? Hardly can we do this in a few words. In all cases, we must remember the most important date: 21 April 753 BC It is the day of the founding of Rome by Romulus who was killed by his twin brother Remus it. In the following centuries the small city-state rose to a mighty empire. It is believed that the time of fulfillment of Rome were the years of Emperor Marcus Aurelius (161-180 years BC). Like ancient Rome, the modern city is located on seven hills: Aventine, Caelian, Capitoline, Esquiline, Palatine, Quirinal and Viminal. The central regions are installed on the Campo Marzio, here you can find the most famous sights. Also for everyone are famous Roman neighborhoods of Trastevere (Trastevere), installed on the opposite side of the Tiber, and Monti (Monti). A must visit and Pigneto, municipal district, which fame as "Roman".
The Coliseum (Colosseum).
The Amfiteatr Flavien was built in the first century AD by the emperors FLAVIANS instead, where earlier there was an artificial sea of Nero. It was the attempt to erase the memories emperors Nero hated and win back the love of the people. The amphitheater is now the largest amphitheaters similar to the Roman Empire. After the end of construction in 80, in honor of the opening, on the order of Titus we had games that lasted 100 days at his arena. In the program there were battles of gladiators fighting crane and elephant, during which it was destroyed 9,000 animals. Later the amphitheater was expanded he had another place, some new passages and spaces below the arena. Today the Flavian Amphitheatre is better known as the Colosseum, the name, the more likely it has received through the sculpture of 40 meters (or "Colossus") of Nero that was nearby, and not because amounts of construction, as we think.
Piazza di Trevi.
The Fountain of Trevi (Trevi) is known to everyone. It is located on a small Piazza di Trevi, its subject is the ocean: the winged horses and young sea gods are harnessed to combat tank, on which the sea god Neptune goes to the ocean. The fountain has 26 meters high and 22 meters wide. The film "La Dolce Vita" (1960) made famous Trevi Fountain for everyone. We can see in this film the beautiful Swedish wife Anita Ekberg dancing in its currents. By the way, she did this not the true fountain, but in the studio sets. Claudia Shiffer in 1995 we were able to swim in the water of the original fountain, she was doing this for the publicity campaign of the Italian designer Valentino.
